There’s nothing like camping with a little comfort and luxury to really recharge your batteries. But if your RV is still in winter storage, it may need some recharging of its own.
We here at Oak Lake RV want to make sure you get the most from your travels, so we’ve put together some tips on preparing your RV for spring usage, below.
Pre-Trip Inspection
While it can seem odd that your camper can come out of storage with new
damage, it’s not that uncommon. In some cases, you might’ve missed an issue before storing your RV for the winter and over time, it got worse. Whatever the case may be, your initial inspection is critical to assess the condition of your rig. You may find there are just some areas that need to be cleaned and may want a little TLC before your first trip of the year.
Look for Pests
Your RV can be a tempting shelter for pests during the cold winter months. Take the time to search for and evict any unwelcome guests.
Gas It Up
Most RVs that have stoves, heating systems, and refrigerators run those systems on LP gas or propane. If yours relies on those, connect the line and turn on one tank to light the stove’s burners to make sure it’s working.
Also remember to switch your refrigerator from electric to gas to ensure it functions while you’re on the road. Test all heaters to make sure they’re running properly.
While you’re at it, this is a great time to replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors!
